Resume Checklist

Below are key items you should review before printing your resume:

  1. Job Objective: Ensure that your job objection revolves around your desired job position and industry.
  1. Supporting information: Ensure that all information which follows your job objective relates to your job position and industry.
  1. Type of Resume: Ensure the type of resume (Functional, Chronological, Hybrid) is most acceptable for your industry.
  1. Omit personal pronouns: Ensure you do not include sentences which include “I” or “we.”
  1. Strong verbs: Ensure that you use the most effective verbs to describe your skills and abilities.
  1. Flow: Try to keep your resume within 1 page for easy reading.
  1. Align Margins: Ensure your printout reflects accurate alignment for all resume content.
  1. Review: Proofread your entire resume and then have a friend or relative review to provide feedback.
  1. Printout quality: Use heavy stock, high quality paper (8 ½” x 11”). Ensure your printout is not faded and does not have streaking.
  1. Always print two: Print out two copies – one for your prospective employer and one for your professional portfolio.
