Interview Follow-up

You just completed your interview and are walking out of the interviewer’s office – your mind is thinking about how it went, while your heart racing. You did your best, now let’s look at when and how to follow up with your interviewer.

Our Human Resource Directors recommend that you wait three days before calling your interviewer. If you plan on sending a thank you card, we recommend that you mail it out the next morning to ensure your interviewer receives it the following day. What will you say or write in your thank you card?

There are three things you should cover when calling your interviewer or mailing a thank you card:

  1. Thank the interviewer for their time and site the date of your meeting.
  2. Remind your interviewer your key skills and abilities which they liked during the interview.
  3. Offer to speak or meet with them to discuss any other questions they may have and express enthusiasm at the opportunity of joining their company.

These three simple follow up items will significantly increase your chances of being hired.
